# Read Home after you sign in

**Home** is the page Fincanva opens after you sign in: a summary of your Live strategies and your latest edits, each part linking to the page that acts on it.

↗ See this in Fincanva — the Home page

## Steps

1. **Sign in, and see which Home you get.** Until you have saved a [strategy](/glossary/strategy) or a [screener](/glossary/screener), Home shows three cards — **Build a strategy**, **Screen the market** and **Follow it live** — each saying what that route is for, with the **Fincanva templates** rail below. Once you have saved something but marked nothing [Live](/glossary/mark-live), it shows **Recently edited** alone. Once a strategy is Live, it shows the full board.
2. **Read the top card.** Everything above **Recently edited** describes the strategies you have marked Live, and only those. The card is a **Needs you** list when one of them asks for an action, and otherwise a band dated `Today · {date}` with one sentence of verdict — never both. [Act on what needs you on Home](/docs/get-started/act-on-what-needs-you-on-home) reads it line by line.
3. **Read the tiles beside it.** **Next rebalances** is always there; **Live book status** stands beside **Needs you**, and **Followed live** beside the dated band.
4. **Scan Your live book**, the ranked rail of your Live strategies — your [live book](/glossary/live-book). Each card shows the strategy's return over the chosen window, its [folder](/glossary/folder) and type, and a small curve; selecting the card opens the strategy. **Return window** switches the figure between **1M**, **YTD** and **1Y**, and if no [Live strategy](/glossary/live-strategy) has a figure for the window you pick, the rail says so and invites you to pick another. The rail stops at eight cards, then offers **View all N live strategies**.
5. **Pick up work in Recently edited.** Its two columns, **Strategies** and **Screeners**, each list the five you touched most recently across your whole book, Live or not. **Strategies** ends with **All N**, which opens the full library. The **Screeners** column is the only place in Fincanva that lists your saved screeners — **Screeners** in the sidebar starts a new one — so it ends with no link.
6. **Browse the catalogue** with **Browse Fincanva templates**, last on the page: it opens the **Public** tab of the strategy library, Fincanva's own strategies rather than yours.

**Done.** You know what your Live strategies did and what you were last working on. While a [backtest](/glossary/backtest) runs, Home keeps itself current: the verdict and the tiles follow the run without a reload.

## Why does Home show me only "Recently edited"?

Because you have saved strategies but marked none of them [Live](/glossary/mark-live), and everything above **Recently edited** describes your Live strategies only. With none Live, there is nothing for the dated band, **Needs you** or the tiles to be about, so Home leaves the whole top half out rather than printing a green all-clear over an empty set.

This is not the first-run version: that one appears only while you have saved nothing at all, and it shows three route cards instead of **Recently edited**. Mark one strategy Live and the top half is there the next time you open Home.

## Why is a strategy I never marked Live not flagged on Home?

Because the top half of Home describes your Live strategies and nothing else, with no exception for a broken one: a strategy you never [marked Live](/glossary/mark-live) is not counted, ranked or flagged there even when its last run **Failed** or it is still **Incomplete**, and no other part of Home flags it either.

It is not lost, and nothing about it has changed. It keeps its own [run status](/glossary/run-status) chip wherever it is listed, it appears in **Recently edited** if it is one of the five you touched last, and it is in **Strategies** with the rest of your book. Most mornings most of these strategies read **Needs re-run**, because a result computed against an earlier market day is no longer current even when you changed nothing. Fincanva keeps only Live strategies current for you, so a strategy you merely saved reaches that state by your choice, and Home does not ask you to undo it. Mark a failed or incomplete strategy Live and it joins **Needs you** the next time you open Home.

## Why does the curve not change when I change the return window?

Because the curve is always the one-year series, whatever **Return window** says. The card labels it **1Y curve** for that reason, and a card with less than a year of history reads **No 1-year curve yet** instead of drawing a shorter one.

**Return window** re-windows the headline percentage only. It is worth knowing before you compare a **1M** figure against the shape of the curve beside it: the two measure different spans on purpose.

## What happens when I pick a strategy type from Home?

The strategy is created immediately, before you have configured anything. **New strategy** opens the type tiles, and pressing one creates a real strategy and takes you into its walk.

So there is no draft to discard: if you change your mind and leave the walk, the strategy stays in **Strategies**, empty. **Deleting it from the Strategies list is how you undo it.** The same holds if you close the dialog while the strategy is being created — Fincanva tells you it was created and leaves you where you are, because by then it exists.
