# Keep your live book in order

The **To do** section on **Live** lists which of your Live strategies need attention and why, worst first, so you can clear them one at a time.

## Steps

1. **Open Live.** With no row selected, the panel beside the list summarises your whole book, and **To do** is its last section. It counts every [strategy](/glossary/strategy) you have marked Live, and only those — one you merely backtested never appears, and one you stop following leaves at once. With none Live, the page reads "No live strategies yet" and "Mark a strategy Live to start following it here."
2. **Read Needs attention.** Each row names a strategy, carries a red dot for a failure or an amber dot for anything softer, and gives its reason underneath — a run status such as `Failed` or `Needs re-run`, or `Add one more sub-strategy`. The worst sits at the top. It flags your setup — runs and settings — never the market.
3. **Select a row** to open that strategy's Positions view and see what it is waiting for.
4. **Clear it from its row on the list**, whose action follows its state: **Run** for one that has never run, **Re-run** for one whose result is stale, **Retry** for one that failed.
5. **Check Next rebalances**, under Needs attention: up to five strategies whose [rebalance](/glossary/rebalance) falls soonest, each with the days left (`in {days}d`), and `+{count} more upcoming` when there are more.
6. **Check Controls**, below Next rebalances: every [Live strategy](/glossary/live-strategy) whose run is fine but still has an open [strategy control](/glossary/strategy-alerts), with its section strip and the count in words, linking to that strategy's Settings.

**Done.** Each strategy you clear leaves **Needs attention** and the next-worst moves up; once nothing is flagged the heading disappears and only **Next rebalances** remains, and with no rebalance scheduled either the section reads "Nothing needs you right now" above "No upcoming rebalances". **Controls** shows only while a Live strategy has an open strategy control.

## Which strategies appear under Needs attention?

A Live strategy appears under **Needs attention** when its [run status](/glossary/run-status) is anything other than `Up to date` or `Computing`. Only a failed run is red; every other case is amber, and red always sorts first.

| What Fincanva finds | Dot | Reason shown |
|---|---|---|
| Run status `Failed` | red | `Failed` |
| Run status `Needs re-run` | amber | `Needs re-run` |
| Run status `To run` | amber | `To run` |
| A Combined holding fewer than two sub-strategies | amber | `Add one more sub-strategy` |
| Run status `Incomplete` for any other reason | amber | `Incomplete` |
| Run status `Set aside` | amber | `Set aside` |

A [Combined](/glossary/combined) holding a single [sub-strategy](/glossary/sub-strategy) is an [Incomplete Combined](/glossary/incomplete-combined): it cannot be backtested until a second sub-strategy is added — it says "Add one more sub-strategy to run this Combined." — so its reason names the missing piece, and on Home its chip reads **Finish**. Add the second sub-strategy from its Settings.

## Which strategies appear under Controls?

A Live strategy appears under **Controls** when its [run status](/glossary/run-status) is `Up to date` or `Computing` — otherwise fine — but it, or one of its sub-strategies, still carries an open [strategy control](/glossary/strategy-alerts): one to review or one blocking. Such a strategy is no longer listed under Needs attention. It carries no dot; its row shows the strategy's own section strip and the count in words — `{count} to review` or `{count} blocking` — linking to that strategy's Settings. A [Combined](/glossary/combined)'s controls are counted per sub-strategy, so two sub-strategies carrying the same control count as two. The group disappears once nothing is left open.

## Which statuses count as in order?

Two: **Up to date** and **Computing**. A strategy actively recomputing is not a problem to solve, so it is left off the list rather than flagged. [Run status](/glossary/run-status) covers each state and how a strategy moves between them.

## How is Home's Needs you different from To do?

**Home** folds the same information into one list under **Needs you** instead of splitting it into groups. A strategy with an open strategy control and an otherwise healthy run appears there with a violet **Review** chip, or a red **Fix** chip when one of its controls blocks the [backtest](/glossary/backtest) — the colours of the section strip. Every other row carries a one-word chip naming what that strategy wants: **Fix**, **Re-run**, **Run** or **Finish**.
