# How to connect ChatGPT to Fincanva

You connect ChatGPT to Fincanva once, on ChatGPT's website, by turning on developer mode, creating an app with Fincanva's address and allowing it on Fincanva's consent screen; after that you pick Fincanva in a chat and ask it for backtests and screeners.

## Steps

1. **Copy Fincanva's address.** Open **Settings → Connected apps** in Fincanva: with no app connected yet, the page reads **No connected apps** and shows the address with **Copy address**. That address is the one to paste — in production, https://app.fincanva.com/mcp.
2. **Turn on developer mode.** On chatgpt.com, open **Settings → Apps → Advanced settings** and switch on **Developer mode**. On a Business workspace only admins and owners can turn it on; on Enterprise and Edu, an admin grants it first.
3. **Create the app.** Open **Settings → Apps → Create**, name it Fincanva, paste the address as the server's endpoint and choose OAuth as the authentication.
4. **Scan the tools, sign in to Fincanva and allow ChatGPT.** Select **Scan Tools**: ChatGPT opens Fincanva's consent screen, `{app} wants to connect to your Fincanva account`, with ChatGPT named and what it will be able to do. If you are not signed in, Fincanva asks you to sign in first and brings you back to the same screen. Press **Allow**, then **Create** in ChatGPT.
5. **Pick Fincanva in a chat.** In a new chat, choose Fincanva from the tools menu, or name it in your message. It is listed in **Settings → Apps → Enabled Apps** with the label **Dev**.

## Which ChatGPT plans can add Fincanva?

ChatGPT lets you add a custom app like Fincanva on the Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans, on the website only, not in the mobile apps. On Pro, ChatGPT allows a custom app to read and fetch only, so asking it to save a [strategy](/glossary/strategy) or a [screener](/glossary/screener) needs Business, Enterprise or Edu, where full support is in [beta](/glossary/beta). These are ChatGPT's rules, set by OpenAI, and they change often; OpenAI's help article on developer mode and MCP apps states the current ones. ## What if I press Deny, or the request has expired?

**Deny** connects nothing: ChatGPT gets no access, and you can start again from step 3. A connection request that is too old or incomplete opens `This connection request is no longer valid` instead of the consent screen; go back to ChatGPT and create the app again.
