Get started with the Fincanva Open API and MCP server
Fincanva’s operations are reachable two ways: as tools in an MCP client, or as REST endpoints your own code calls. This page takes you to a first call on each.
How do you make a first REST call?
Send POST to https://app.fincanva.com/api/v1/research/list_allocation_methods with the JSON body {}: the operation takes no required parameter, so an empty object is a complete request. Authenticate with an API key, either as Authorization: Bearer followed by the key or in the x-api-key header.
The answer is the result envelope: status: true and a data object whose result lists every allocation method Fincanva offers. Which plans include the Open API is in Plans, quotas and limits.
How do you connect an MCP client?
Add https://app.fincanva.com/mcp to an MCP client that connects to remote servers over Streamable HTTP. The client signs in with OAuth: the server tells it where, through the discovery documents Authentication and API keys lists. Each operation then appears as a tool named by its operation id.
Where do you go from here?
- The Fincanva MCP server — the transport, the tools and what a client receives when it connects.
- Authentication and API keys — every credential and what it may call.
- Plans, quotas and limits — which plans include each surface, and the monthly allowances.
- The Reference — every operation, one page each.
