Choose which strategies stay Live

Guide5 min5 steps

When your plan stops covering every strategy you follow Live, Fincanva asks you — once, in a dialog you cannot skip — which ones keep being followed; the rest stop and stay in your library.

Steps

  1. Open Live, or a strategy you follow Live. The dialog appears there, and it blocks: it has no close button, Escape and a click outside do nothing, and only an answer gets you past it.
  2. Read the question. Its title reads "Choose the strategy to keep live" — or "Choose the 2 strategies to keep live" when the plan covers more than one — and the line under it gives the numbers, such as "You follow 3 live strategies, Starter covers 1. Choose which one to keep." Every strategy you follow is listed, with Followed since {date} where Fincanva has that date.
  3. Read what applies if you choose nothing. Fincanva's own order arrives pre-selected — the strategies you used most recently — and the dialog says it in words, such as "If you choose nothing we keep Momentum EU, the last one you used." Under it, what the choice costs: the ones you leave out stop being followed — no live updates and no live signals — and stay in your library, ready to go Live again when your plan covers them.
  4. Pick the ones to keep. Where the plan covers one, the rows are radio buttons; above one they are checkboxes with a counter, {chosen} of {ceiling} chosen. Once you reach the number the remaining rows lock and dim: to pick a different one, untick one you picked.
  5. Select Confirm. It stays disabled until you have chosen exactly the number the plan covers — not at most that number, exactly it.

Done. The strategies you kept are still followed. Answered on Live, you stay there; inside a strategy you kept, you stay on it; inside one you left out, Fincanva takes you to Live, because that strategy has just stopped being followed.

Can I change my answer later?

No. The question is owed at the moment your plan stops covering your live book, and your answer puts the account back inside what the plan covers; from then on Fincanva refuses any attempt to answer it again, so no screen, menu entry or link reopens it. You meet it again only if a later plan change stops covering your live book, as a fresh question about the strategies you follow then.

If the question moves while the dialog is open, your answer is refused rather than applied, and Fincanva says which case it was: "Your choice was already saved, in another tab. This is where you stand now." or "Your plan changed while this was open, so the question changed too. Here it is as it stands now." Neither loses anything — the dialog re-reads your account and shows the question as it now stands, or closes because nothing is owed. If saving fails, it reads "We could not save your choice. Try again."

What happens when my subscription ends?

Your plan then covers no Live strategies, so there is nothing to choose and the dialog states what happens instead. It reads "Your subscription has ended", then "The 3 strategies you were following stop.", lists them, each marked STOPPED, and closes with "They all stay in your library, with their history: they go live again as soon as you take a plan. There is nothing to redo." There are no controls and no counter — only See the plans, and Got it to acknowledge. Where it leaves you follows the same rule as Confirm.

Why is one of my strategies marked SET ASIDE in the dialog?

Because it is already outside what your plan keeps active in your library, so its following stops whatever you answer. That is the other shortage: which strategies your library keeps active is decided for you, once, when the plan stops covering your library, and the strategies you follow Live rank ahead of every other — the most-recently-used order applies only to the Live question. A set-aside strategy is listed with no control beside it, and the dialog says so under the list: "One of these is set aside, so it stops being followed whatever you choose." The number you keep is spent on the strategies that can stay followed, and if setting strategies aside already brings your live book inside the plan, no question is asked at all. Plan compliance covers the library's verdict.

How do I follow a set-aside strategy again?

By bringing it back inside your plan: take a plan that covers what you hold, or — if you deleted an active strategy and a seat is genuinely vacant — select Activate this one on that strategy's panel. There is no free way to re-choose which strategies your library keeps active, and answering the Live question does not move that verdict. Until then, its row carries the bars of the plan level that would bring it back, its Live key off and muted; pressing the key, or Mark Live in its menu, opens The plan is full. On the strategy's own page — or for a row set aside after the table loaded — Mark as Live is refused with one sentence: on Free, "You have more strategies than your Free plan covers: this one is outside it, so it can't go Live. Switch to Starter to follow it."; for a strategy beyond a limit, "This strategy goes beyond the limits of your Starter plan, so it can't go Live." and the plan that covers it, or "No plan currently covers it — reduce what it holds and try again." Fincanva records no interruption, so a strategy followed again is not one followed throughout — see Mark Live.
