Star strategies and screeners

Guide2 min3 steps

You make a strategy or a screener a favourite by selecting its star, and the Favourites filter then lists only the items you have starred.

Steps

  1. Find the item. A strategy or a screener can be starred from its row in the explorer sidebar, its row in the dashboard table, or its own page — your own items and any Public ones you are browsing alike.
  2. Select the star. An empty star adds the item to your favourites; a filled yellow star removes it. The row's ⋯ menu does the same, reading "Add to favourites" or "Remove from favourites" depending on the current state.
  3. Turn on the Favourites filter. Above the strategy or screener list, Favourites narrows the list to the items you starred; with nothing starred in that list yet it reads "No favourites yet".

Done. The item's star stays filled yellow — the same yellow as the Favourites filter when it is on — even when you are not hovering the row, and the filter shows it with the rest of your starred items.

Why does a live strategy's star lock?

Marking a strategy Live adds it to your favourites automatically and keeps it there for as long as it stays live, so you do not lose track of it. In the dashboard table and in the strategy page's header its star locks yellow. In the sidebar library its row shows, in the star's place, a small bright-green square carrying only a rising line — a screen reader announces it as "Live" — and the sidebar's Favourites filter still includes it.

Selecting the locked star, or otherwise trying to unfavourite a live strategy, shows "Turn the strategy off first". Turn the strategy off, then remove the star if you want to. Screeners have no Live state, so a screener's star never locks.

How many favourites can I have?

Up to 200 strategies and up to 200 screeners. The two lists are capped separately, so starring 200 screeners uses none of your strategy favourites.

At the cap, a new star in that list does not save and the app shows "Couldn't save favourite": remove an existing favourite from the same list, then try again. A strategy that goes Live while you are already at the 200-strategy cap still goes live — it just isn't added to your favourites, rather than blocking the Live switch.
