Create or copy a strategy when your plan is full
Fincanva never lets you create beyond your plan: making, duplicating, copying or combining a strategy asks the plan first, and is refused before anything is created when the result would not be covered.
Steps
- See how many strategies you have saved. On Free, a muted count beside New strategy on the strategies board reads how many you have saved out of 2 —
1 / 2; it is the only saved-strategy ceiling a plan sets. Every paid level allows 999, an anti-abuse maximum no plan raises, so no count shows there. The creation dialog itself shows no count. - Press New strategy on Mine. With the library full it opens a dialog of its own instead of the creation dialog: it names the level that lifts the limit, says
You are at 2. Nothing is deleted — the next level raises the number.andFincanva applies this limit itself, so the level above is the only way past it., and offers Switch to Starter. On Public the same button is not walled: that board lists strategies you do not own, so your plan is not read there. - Duplicating or copying is refused the same way. Duplicate in a dashboard row's menu, in an open strategy's header and in the strategies explorer's row menu, Copy to Mine in the first two, and the copy button on a Public strategy in the explorer all read, on a full Free library:
This would take you past what your Free plan allows, so the copy wasn't created: 3 strategies, Free allows 2. Switch to Starter for more.Nothing was created, and the strategy you copied from is untouched. - Every other way in refuses without naming the plan. New strategy on the Live page, the + in the sidebar and on the tab bar, the create button on an empty strategies board — which you can meet on a full plan, because that board is filtered to one kind while the plan counts your whole library — and the create buttons on the dashboard and in the explorer open the creation dialog as usual; on submit the creation is refused with
Couldn't create your strategy. Try again., orCouldn't create the Combinedfor a Combined. - Make room: move to a plan that raises the number — see what each plan includes — or delete a strategy you no longer need.
Done. With room in your plan, the same button creates or copies the strategy. A strategy you already hold beyond your plan is a different case: bring a set-aside strategy back into your plan.
Why can't I combine strategies?
Combined is not available below Advanced: a press there is refused before anything is created. From Advanced up the count still applies — the Combined tile stays visible and clickable on every plan, and a Combined that would take you past what your plan grants is refused like any other creation, with Couldn't create the Combined.
Cloning a Combined on a plan that does not offer one is refused too, and the wording depends on where you pressed: a dashboard row's menu or an open strategy's header answers Couldn't duplicate the strategy — no plan, no level, no number — while the explorer answers This strategy is outside your Free plan, so it cannot run. Switch to Advanced to run it., which names the plan and the level but describes a run, though you asked for a copy. Nothing is created either way.
Why was Copy to Mine refused?
Where it is offered as Copy to Mine — a dashboard row's menu and an open strategy's header — your plan is read for how many strategies you hold and for whether the copy's benchmark is one your plan allows, and both refusals name the plan. Couldn't copy the strategy means something else stopped it: the strategy is no longer public, or no longer there.
The copy button on a Public strategy in the explorer is the exception, because of how it copies: in the tree it is a copy icon with no words, announced to a screen reader as Copy "…" to Mine, and the window it opens is titled and confirmed Duplicate — it duplicates rather than copies, so a Free account copying a public Combined reads the run sentence there too. On the count it reads the copy sentence like every other door.
