What Settings → Plan and usage tells you
Settings → Plan and usage is where your plan lives: the plan you hold and where it sits among Fincanva's plans, what you use against the limits it really sets, your subscription, and what each plan includes.
Steps
- Open Plan and usage from the account menu. Every link in the app that offers a plan change opens this page with Change plan already open, and Stripe Checkout returns here:
Subscription activewith "Payment was successful. Your new plan is now active.", orCheckout cancelledwith "You can try again from Change plan, in Plan and usage." - Read the plan pass. In your plan's lime it shows the caption
Your plan(On trialduring a trial), the plan's bars, its name, its price and one dated line — the first sentence of Your subscription, so the two cannot tell two stories. A Free account readsFreeandNo active subscription.; a Professional subscriber readsCustom, with no bars and no price, because Professional has no entry in Fincanva's own price catalogue. - Read the ladder beside it. Free, Starter, Advanced and Ultimate rise left to right, each block carrying how many strategies you can follow Live on that plan — 0, 1, 5 and
∞— over its name and monthly price; the caption says so:In the blocks: how many strategies you follow live on that plan. You are heresits above your plan, and the one a step above is highlighted, withThe next step · {plan}listing the main lines it adds and how many more. On Ultimate there is no step above and it readsThe highest plan: you have everything Fincanva does.; a Professional subscriber, or an account whose plan could not be read, stands on no block. - Read What you're using — a row for each count your plan really caps, then your maximum leverage and your Fin AI suggestions: see What does "What you're using" show?
- Read Your subscription — one dated sentence on where your subscription stands, what will be charged and how many days are left, with the action that fits it: Change plan, Cancel plan, Restore plan. Every sentence and dialog is in how to read your plan.
- Open What each plan includes with Show. What you have lists every line your plan includes — a number, "No limit", a year or "All history", or a tick — grouped under Build, Protect, Analyse, Project and Follow & support, including the limits inside one strategy, such as "Instruments per strategy" and "Sub-strategies in a Combined" — which counts the strategies a Combined holds in use, not a switched-off one. Still to unlock has one group per plan above yours, cheapest first, each headed by a button such as "Switch to Advanced" that opens Change plan, with what it adds ("N more things"); on Ultimate it is absent and What you have stands alone, centred. Both columns are built from the same lines as the public pricing page, so the figures always match. Hide folds it again.
- Read Requests from Claude, ChatGPT and the API: this month's requests, heavy runs and reports (automatic research, a separate counter) against your plan, and the day they reset.
Done. You know which plan you hold, what it includes and how much of it you use. What you pay is on Settings → Payments and invoices.
What does "What you're using" show?
A row for each count your plan really caps, with the same counter its list shows beside its header:
- On Free, saved strategies, capped at two: a row of cells, one per unit of the ceiling, filled for each strategy you hold.
- On Starter and Advanced, strategies followed Live, capped at one and five, drawn as seats: each taken seat names its strategy and is marked
Live, an empty one readsFree seat, and under themWhen every seat is taken, stop following one to follow another. - On Ultimate and Professional, no ceiling: the seats show only what you follow, or
No strategy is Live yet. Turn Live on from a strategy's page.
A counter reads {held} of {allowed} within the ceiling — "4 of 5" for Live on Advanced — {held} of {allowed} · {beyond} set aside over it, per plan compliance, or, for Live, {held} of {allowed} · {beyond} not followed: those stay open and readable and take no seat. Maximum leverage reads {value} · your maximum on a scale from the lowest to the highest maximum on sale; Fin AI suggestions shows what your plan allows.
Saved strategies and screeners usually have no row: where they read "no limit", the figure behind them is a technical safety maximum of 999 that no plan raises. Live on Free has none either: it is a feature Free does not include, shown as the zero on Free's block.
Does this page show my trial's limits?
Yes, the same way it shows any plan's: the page reads the capability level your account really enforces, and during a 30-day trial that level is the plan the trial is on — a trial has no limits of its own, so "What you're using" and "What each plan includes" show your plan's figures from day 1. The pass names the trial: its caption reads On trial, its price Free, and Your subscription gives the trial's end date and what day 31 will do — see the 30-day trial.
Why do the pass and "What you're using" ever disagree?
In one case only, and a trial is not it: a paying customer on Professional. The pass names your plan from Fincanva's own price catalogue, which has no entry for Professional, so a Professional subscriber sees a generic Custom label, stands on no block of the ladder and is offered no next step. "What you're using" reads your account's actual enforced capability level instead, so it still counts against Professional's own ceilings. "What each plan includes" shows no columns, only "Your plan is not one of the plans on sale, so there is no comparison with the others here. The ceilings above are its own."
What does "Backtests start from" show?
Your plan's earliest backtest start year — a year, or "All history" where the plan has no floor — as a line in What you have; where a plan above yours reaches further back, its year shows under Still to unlock. Fincanva applies that floor: the starting-year calendar greys out every earlier year, a save that asks for one is refused naming the plan that reaches it, and a strategy that already starts earlier — after a move to a plan with a later floor — is set aside rather than moved, with its settings still editable. The floor for each plan: what each plan includes.
